Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. All students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission.
  2. Students must have earned a high school diploma (grade 12), its foreign equivalent, or a General Educational Development diploma (GED). Students are strongly recommended (however this is not mandatory) to take at least one year each of high school biology, chemistry and physics; and mathematics.
  3. Students must demonstrate sufficient maturity to undertake a health care profession, including the capacity to ethically and responsibly manage professional boundaries. Admission to National University of Medical Sciences is competitive as NUMSS only takes a set amount of students per year from each jurisdiction. The University expects that most, if not all, students will exceed the minimum admission requirements.
  4. Students wishing to enrol in the MBA program in health care or the Master of Science in Athletic Therapy, at the minimum must have a bachelor’s degree. Health professionals such as chiropractors, medical doctors, doctors of osteopathy, podiatrists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, optometrists, naturopaths, dentists and doctors of naturopathy are eligible to enter this program even if they do not have a bachelor’s degree. Massage therapists, chiropodists, manual osteopaths with DOMP or equivalent, & acupuncturists, as well as others who do not have a bachelor’s degree must enrol in the duel degree programs of BSc/MBA or BSc/MSc.
  5. Students wishing to enrol in the Master of Art in History of Osteopathy must have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Osteopathy or a Doctor of Osteopathy degree. (www.internationalosteopathicassociation.org) prior to the class start date.
  6. Students wishing to enrol in a Master of Science degree program in any of the following fields (orthopedics, clinical neurology, rheumatology, sports medicine, skeletal radiology, osteopathic radiology, osteopathic clinical sciences, osteopathy, functional assessment & disability evaluation, occupational medicine, botanical medicine, clinical occupational rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, aquatic rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, clinical ergonomics, pediatric osteopathy, geriatric osteopathy, nutritional medicine, & sports nutrition) must have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Osteopathy or a Doctor of Osteopathy degree and be a licensed member of the International Osteopathic Association prior to the class start date.
  7. Students wishing to enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in Advanced Diagnostic Radiology must have successfully completed either the Master of Science program in Skeletal Radiology or the Master of Science program in Osteopathic Radiology.
  8. Students wishing to enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in Osteopathic Rehabilitation must have successfully completed either the Master of Science program in Osteopathy or the Master of Science program in Osteopathic Clinical Sciences.
  9. Students wishing to enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation must have successfully completed either the Master of Science program in Orthopaedics or the Master of Science program in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
