In the United States, you may refer to yourself as an osteopathic manual practitioner, or a registered osteopathic manual practitioner – ROMP, if you are a member of the American Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (AAOMP).
In Canada, the title you may use varies by province:
British Columbia: Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Alberta: Osteopathic Manual Therapist
Quebec and New Brunswick: Osteopath
Ontario and Most Other Provinces: Manual Osteopath or Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Members of the College of Registered Manual Osteopaths can use the title of RMO – Registered Manual Osteopath.
It’s important to note that in Canada, the title “osteopath” is regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in each Canadian province. These colleges determine which professional titles are permitted for non-physician practitioners. BC and Alberta have stricter regulations and typically allow only one specific title, while other provinces are generally more flexible.
