New Program: Doctor of Indigenous Health Sciences

Osteopathy has its roots in Indigenous healing traditions, including the bodywork and wellness practices of the Cherokee Nation. Many years ago, I developed a deep interest in Indigenous health knowledge and traditional healing systems. I was honored to be accepted as a tribal member of the Southern Cherokee Nation and the Red Fire People, and later had the privilege of serving as their Minister of Education.

Since that time, we have been working toward the creation of a doctoral-level academic program grounded in Indigenous health sciences. I am pleased to announce that this program is now in development and will soon begin accepting students.

The Doctor of Indigenous Health Sciences program will be offered fully online through the National University of Medical Sciences. Optional hands-on practical classes, delivered as continuing education programs, will be available at the beautiful waterfront campus of the National Academy of Osteopathy Center for Continuing Education in Bonita Springs, Florida.
